Cold Folk - Jan 24, 2015

January 15, 2015

A family-friendly evening of local original folk music in a beautiful new venue, to warm your heart on a cold winter night. - Jan 24 at 7pm

Presented by Heart of the City Festival Society of Edmonton, with support from McCauley Revitalization, E4C and Friends of Church Street. This concert will be the second in the “Winter Warmers” series taking place in the newly renovated Studio 96. Located in the former St. Stephen’s Church at 10909 96 Street, which is now owned and operated by E3 Architects. Studio 96 is set to become a new gathering space for events in the community.

About the Venue: The original plaster walls stretch and crack as they make their way up to the tall pointed ceilings. Held aloft with large square columns and Gothic arches, the walls are hung with brightly coloured fabric tapestries and sometimes local artwork. The original wood floors have been left intact and adorned with comfortable and stylish seats of many different but complimentary styles. Taken together with the moody warm lighting, the venue exudes a beautiful and mysterious middle-eastern flair that must be seen to be appreciated.

About the Artists: Dana Wylie will host the evening, providing her signature crystal clear voice and fluid finger-style guitar playing, which effortlessly straddles country and city, folk and intellectual. Joining her for this show is the talented Ken Stead. His quiet charm and gentle way of talking is sure to provide even more warmth and leave you wanting more. Also helping keep the embers glowing is Locum Tenens Trio (members of the Big Sky Gliders)
