Heart of the City Music and Arts Festival | Volunteer Skills & What to Expect

 


1) Information Booth

  • Duties: T-shirts/merchandise sales. Duties include telling people about the festival (line-ups, activities, workshops, etc.) and selling festival t-shirts and some merchandise.

  • Skills: Organized, friendly, helpful, responsible, direct, good communication

  • Perks: Tented area, always work in pairs, get to meet lots of new people!


2) Art Tent

  • Duties: Helping with crafts, cleaning art supplies, assisting the artists, face-painting, and dealing with young kids.

  • Skills: Super friendly, like to interact with all age groups, helpful, love art!

  • Perks: Tented area, learn new art projects, meet artists, showcase your great talents, lots of play (art = play)!


3) Green room

  • Duties: Greeting and accounting for artists and musicians.

  • Skills: Organized, can multi-task, comfortable in busy environment, informative, direct, good communication

  • Perks: Tented area, meet all volunteers, musicians, and artists, learn some ins and outs of festival organization!


4) Site/Perimeter Crew

  • Duties: Supervision of the park, walking around the perimeter.

  • Skills: Quiet, perceptive, friendly, helpful, takes initiative

  • Perks: get to see the whole festival, relax around the park, good for parents with kids, solo work (good for the quiet types)!


5) Stage Management

  • Duties: Coordination of acts, communication with musicians.

  • Skills: Organized, direct, good communication skills, great time-management

  • Perks: meet musicians, learn about stage tech, watch bands, learn organization skills!


6) Greeters/Program Distributors

  • Duties: Greet festival attendees, hand out programs with information about activities.

  • Skills: Friendly, helpful, good communications skills

  • Perks: Tented area, meet new people, good for parents with kids, relaxing position!
